This year I visited my first ever fitness convention. I know what you’re thinking, I’ve never been to one before? Yes, I’m as disappointed in myself as you! Anyway, I decided to book the day off work to visit Fitcon UK at London’s Olympia exhibition centre. The relatively new event is across three days with multiple athletes and fitness star appearances.
I visited on Friday the 21st May which meant that I was lucky enough to encounter one of the greatest bodybuilding athletes to ever grace the stage; Ronnie Coleman. I also had the pleasure to meet Bodybuilders Simeon Panda, C.T Fletcher, William Bonac, Ryan Terry and Sergi Constance. Even social media stars Robert Frank and Carly Rowena were there too!
Amongst all the pro athlete searching I did, I also had a long mosey around all of the fabulous stands and brands which were there promoting their new products and releases. Exciting news for any Grenade lovers out there. They were introducing the world to their new and improved Defend BCAA! If you ever get your hands on some, give them a go- they taste great.
We then stopped and took part in ‘Meet the Athletes’ and listened to the lovely Carly talk about her workouts, what inspires her and how she keeps up her healthy lifestyle. After we finished meandering the maze of stools we finally got home which meant one thing! Pouring out the contents of my days haul over the bed to see what I had bought.
Here’s what I bought on the day:
Cobra Labs produce one of my all time favourite pre workouts, Curse. I have been taking it on and off for several years, so I was super excited to be introduced to their new formula, Shadow – X. This stuff truly is medicine for mayhem. I will be trialling it over the next few weeks and will let you know how I get on and of course I couldn’t leave the stand without picking up a few handfuls of curse samples for when I run out.
When I run out of my pre workout tubs I love to mix it up by buying the two scoop grenade sachets from Holland & Barrett. I have always had my eye on the Grenade Killa Coffee and Diet Protein Shake so when we stumbled across their stand I couldn’t help but pick some up.
Killa coffee is a skinny iced coffee with protein, meaning they’re a great post gym drink or anytime of the day for that matter. The diet protein shake is a low carb shake with 26g of whey protein designed to be consumed post gym, on the go during the day.
For those of you who don’t know Robert is an online gym influencer. You may recognise him from his crazy, loud gym motivation videos on Instagram. I was really happy to meet him as I think his videos are hilarious, so much so I bought myself a Trenbologna Sandwich T-shirt.
After chatting with him and his team for a while, they even gave me a few of his new brand pre workout samples which I am really excited to try.
My friend Liam introduced me to Muscle Tech after he used their bulking protein when he was living in America. We chatted with the awesome guy on the stand for ages about their whole range of products including a new bulking protein which Liam decided to buy. Whilst there I also picked up a few samples of both their Vapour Pre Workout and Amino build up tablets.
I was dragged to this stall by Kristy after she made a beeline for the free food samples. We tried a few of their protein bar products and walked away with a Peanut butter Crunch (My Bar) and a Confetti Cake Crunch (My Bar). These were truly the nicest protein bars i’ve tasted as they just taste like cake but without all the calories.
Yet another stall discovered by the free sample blood hound Kristy was the macro friendly seasoning company, The Gym Chef. They had a world of flavours to taste in just a few different pots. I loved their products so I grabbed myself a Peri Peri and a Cajun seasoning tub for my Sunday roasts!
Staying on the subject of food, I have used Dr Zak’s Coconut Oil for years. Seeing it at a special show price meant I would have been stupid not to have stocked up. We also let the free samples work their magic as we collected a few packets of Dr Zak’s Chipolata Clusters and Fruit & Yoghurt Clusters after tasting them at the stand.
